The GTI gearbox is completely different to all other models, plus it had a 200mm clutch whereas all others are 175mm or 190mm. It has completely different ratios and also has EDL (electronic differential lock) ARB on the GTI is larger as are the front discs.

The bottom end parts through the 1.4 16V 75bhp to 100bhp and 1.6 16V are all different. One of the main problems in my eyes with the smaller blocks is that they are aluminium so wear faster than the lupo gti AVY engines. Your main difference between the 1.4 75 and 100 is: inlet manifold, TB, fuel injectors, map, bottom end, and cams. I'm glad to say I've had no problems since vw dealer fixed engine problem. Ulterior masina a beneficiat de un schimb total de filtre, (ulei,polen,benzina,aer) uleiul din motor si de la servodirectie a fost schimbat, placutele de frana fata si spate au fost si ele schimbate,bujiile, la capitolul mecanica, ar mai trebui curatat corpul clapeta si valva egr.
